Breaking Point at Breaking Dawn

I had an awesome weekend. It was full of sisters and sleepovers and silliness. And also alliteration, apparently.

'Da twinneh' and Gem slept over on Friday night. The husband was gone pheasant hunting, so we had the apartment all to ourselves. Which meant there was no need to hold back.

It's at times like these that our true colors really shine. Should you have the privilege of witnessing how we act when in only each other's company.

And somehow, I always end up at the brunt end of every joke. Like when we were all spooning on my bed, and I suggested that we reenact a particular scene from the movie Corinna, Corinna (skip to 8:50), and then they mock me relentlessly for how I roll over. Regardless of how much more efficient or practical it is.

I mean who likes having their pajamas all twisted up and strangling them in the middle of the night?? That's right. No one.

This sisterly reunion was all in anticipation of the new Twilight movie release. My oldest sister and her oldest daughter met up with us at my apartment the next afternoon to watch the first half of Breaking Dawn, then we had some dinner at Zupas before hitting up part II at the mall.

Just for the record, I don't consider myself a raving Twilight fan. True, I enjoyed the books and true, I've seen all of the movies. But that doesn't mean I stand behind the horribleness of films 1 & 2. The third was only marginally better, and I only started truly enjoying them on these last two.

That being said (and in an attempt to refrain from leaking any spoilers), there was a certain point during the climax where I seriously contemplated going home, burning the novels and never speaking of them again. It seemed as though the director had changed the storyline in such a way as to completely ruin the saga. The entire theater was in a state of shock, including 'da twinneh' who sat with her hands covering the horrified expression on her face.

I was beyond infuriated. I loved how Stephenie Meyer had finished the story. She hadn't felt the need to kill off any main characters, the conflict was resolved and it had a happy ending. Something you rarely find in literature.

But that was far from the direction the film was taking. Fortunately, we all breathed a sigh of relief when the twist was revealed, and the world was right again. The theater literally buzzed for the next two minutes as all of the women expressed their excited relief.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is that everything turned out alright. Sorry if that ruins the surprise for you, but I personally would rather have known from the get-go that it would all be okay. Would have saved me a lot of anxiety and loathing later on.

And of course, the 'Twi-hards' all clapped enthusiastically during the credits.

Which always makes me roll my eyes. I classify it right up there with cliche Relief Society pity chuckles and when people require you to prove you're not a robot when leaving a comment on their blog.

I hate to break it to you bloggers, but that deters me from saying anything 9 out of 10 times. If you're really so worried about someone posting inappropriate content, moderate your comments before they're visible.

But considering that the majority of you who still utilize this ridiculous feature have fewer than five followers, myself included, I think you're safe.

And so that is what I have to say on those subjects.
See it, stop it and remove it.

Space. The Final 'Pun'tier.

I love corny puns.
Doug from Savage Chickens understands this obsession.

Did I ever mention that he is the master of hilarious chicken antics, among other things? Well... now I have.

I also have a confession to make.
I'm kind of a Trekkie. So this comic speaks to me.
Not to mention that it combines three of my favorite things:
puns, Star Trek and sewing. Moving on...

This weekend was more fun than I deserve.

Of course... I felt sick & gross the whole time, none of my family showed up and we were forgotten in the church parking lot, but hey. I'm trying to forget such minor details.

It started off with celebrating Gem's graduation by going on a small road trip where we swam in the hotel pool, went to the aquarium and ate too much of everything.
Then, joy of joys, it was Homecoming: a sort of 'community days' in Lake Shore. It was excellent. I'd say better than most years.

I was bestowed (term used loosely) the honored position of creating the backdrop for the pavilion stage. Namely, a giant tree. Lying out on my living room floor, it looked ginormous! Nine feet by nine feet to be exact. Sadly, it was less than impressive taped up.

That's right. Call me Corinner-Elly.
I cook. I clean. I accept random charity projects from frazzled activities committee members.

And then, as if that weren't enough, I went to the Mormon Miracle Pageant in Manti. That's a story in and of itself though I'm not sure I'm up to telling it again. Suffice it to say that there were entirely too many mis-communications, melodramatic lines and overly zealous hand gestures. But surprisingly, upbeat.

Oh! The activity this past Wednesday was a Bubble Blast. The pictures speak for themselves.

The wind that day was quite serendipitous.

This little fella had the time of his life trying to attack me with the bubbly solution. Luckily, I made tracks before the trend caught on and I was completely covered in suds.

We were surprised by how many actually showed up. There were only a few to start out but then the number practically 'bubbled'.

Did I say I love puns? Well I do.

Stuffed with Fluff

'What does this title mean?', you say.
Well, several things.
Lemme splain'.

#1- Cupcakes are stuffed with fluff.
Well... they're topped with fluff. Okay. Technically, frosting.
But close enough.

And they may very well be stuffed with fluff if they're Nutella cupcakes, which ooze chocolately hazelnut goodness from their very core.
These little beauties were inspired by my coworker, Em, who brought a scrumdiddlyumptious batch to the office. It was pure genius.

But wait! There's more!
Yummy-licious Champagne Cupcakes! Also known as 'not really champagne because I won't be legal for another month let alone the fact that I don't drink alcohol and neither should you' cupcakes!

But hey, remember that time when my Easy-Accent Decorator hadn't come in the mail yet so I had to buy a can of frosting from Walmart with an attachable decorative tip but it contained an obscenely small amount of frosting?

Me too. It sucked.

Hence, partially naked cupcakes.
Moving on...

#2- Winnie-the-Pooh is stuffed with fluff.
He's a chubby little cubby so 'stuffed with fluff' he should probably have been #1. oh well.

What most people don't realize is how classic 'The Many Adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh' really is! Don't watch that Disney channel crap. Stick with the good stuff.

Hehehe. Gopher.
He's not in the book, you know.

I mean, come on. You can't beat the intonation mud-covered Pooh uses when Christopher Robin asks him 'what he's supposed to be'? Here. Let me show you.

Pooh: "Imma little black rain cloud. Uv-course!"

See! EPIC!

Okay fine.
Just watch it for yourself.
HERE.

#3- Corinner-Elly is stuffed with fluff.
I can't believe I'm bringing this up but... the truth must be faced.

Let it be known that I was known as 'Stuffer-Fluffer' for the majority of my childhood.
But come on. Not only am I the most humble person I know, I'm definitely the most lovable.

Speaking of lovable!
Take a look at this. But be warned.
You just might die from cuteness.
Dis' is da' twinneh. Isn't she PRECIOUS!?!
Don't you just want to pinch her cheeks, pet a kitten and then kiss the nearest baby!?!
*sigh*
You just can't be any more adorable.

We combined forces in creating aprons for the little serving girls at her wedding reception, which is comin' right on up.

She tried modeling one for us with it tied around her hips (scandalously, I might add) but I demanded she move it up to her waistline. *heaven forbid*

And, sure enough. I was right.
Perfection.
(which is more than I can say for my cell phone photo quality.)

And so, to conclude, many a good thing in life is 'stuffed with fluff'.
Da' twinneh, however, not so much.

I could snap her like a twig.
